When we have trouble in our life, it is often difficult to remember that these are but the passing clouds of our experience. They are not forever. Even when the rain clouds are storming and you feel as if your house is going to be swept away, there is always hope and serenity possible, somewhere and somehow. That doesn’t mean things will always turn out exactly as you picture it. Even when destruction is eminent, as we learn to let go, our inner feelings can eventually return to that place of peace and serenity. Our true nature is like the small child, light and free, but it can be hard to connect to that part of our self when troubles arise. Hopefully we can take the time to step back and take the larger view. When we can see our life within the context of lifetimes or see our world within the context of our own eternal nature, things begin to fall into perspective. For in the end, perspective is everything. Once we are able to see and feel our true nature and then live of life from this feeling or perspective, we begin to live with a greater sense of peace in our life. This is what I am working on – staying connected to who and what I really am, and staying connected to that higher perspective which gives me the serenity that feels the way I want to feel. Most of us are caught in the survival struggle, the achievement struggle, or the struggle to be more than we are. And when we get caught up in this struggle we loose a sense of who we really are, what our true nature is, and what our potentials are. It is then we must return to that sense of knowing from within our heart that says, “I am a part of the all in all. I am a part of this great unfolding process,” (known as God, humanity, Spirit, or whatever other term you want to give it). It is here that I hear the soothing voices that say, ” It is all okay. You are fine it is fine. Let it be. “And it is in letting go to that part of ourselves that we can return to that true nature of lightness and the feelings that make life worth living.
The universe is an amazing place. It is a sea of living thought. All that exists is created with thought. Our existence is a thought of God, and yet we have been created with the power to think and thus create as God does. So how do things manifest for us? When we think something, it is created in thought. When we desire something it begins to take shape energetically and will continue to do so if not interfered with. When we put out what we want with a clear focused intent we find that all will unfold as we wish. But how often are we really that clear? Even when we think we know what we want, we will actually get all that we are thinking about which includes the many other levels and layers of our being at work. We can feel amazingly stuck because our expectations from our conscious mind do not match all the unconscious material that is at work in our life. There are so much energies and desires that are being generated out of our unconscious mind. This is where the real work is. This is where we can clean up so that what we wish is not surrounded by a bunch of “buts”, “shoulds”, “excepts”, “have tos”, and limitations. Even with all of that, our thoughts continue to try to manifest. When it does, it just comes in ways with all these conditions around it. It gets very complicated, but the universe will continue try to deliver it to us over and around the barriers we have put up. It is interesting to see that we don’t have to be perfect in our thinking, but the clearer we are, the easier the manifestation. I like to put out a desire then wait to see how it manifests. Will it manifest slowly or quickly? How will it show up? Sometimes it looks like nothing is happening, but it always is. And it is always amazing to watch how the magic of the universe brings things into manifestation with or without our conscious effort.
This month I have become aware more and more that what matters most is focusing on the field of energy that surrounds us. As we attune to this field of light and information we can relate more effectively with those around us and find answers and solutions to the difficulties, both physically and relationally that we are faced with. It is no small task to stay in tune with this field of energy, but when we learn to do it, things flow more smoothly and easily. Manifestation happens and all good things can come to pass. Unfortunately we were never taught to do this. We most of us were taught to ignore this information by our family, schools and culture, but it is available to us right now and is filled with important information for living. There is no wait. You have just to allow your awareness to move to that space and stay there. It is right in front of you. There’s no waiting because it is happening here and now. So what do you say? Is it time to shift your focus more into the field of energy that is all around while you live your life? I am happy to say that I am living that practice more and more each day.
The original Reiki principles were originally taken from a wise Japanese Emperor who lived hundreds of years ago and were incorporated by the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui because they form a solid foundation to base one’s life, attitudes and actions upon. They were called,
“The secret art of happiness. The miraculous medicine of all diseases.”
The original Reiki “admonitions” are
“Just for today
Do not anger.
Do not worry.
Be filled with gratitude.
Devote yourself to your work.
Be kind to people.
Every morning and evening pray these words to your heart and chant these words with your mouth.”
While their essential truth is eternal, I felt it would be a good evolutionary step to modernize them as we speak in the English language. I have learned not only from modern psychology but also through the teachers of manifestation that when you say to yourself “don’t get angry or don’t worry” the mind starts to focus and look for anger and worry and actually causes you to bring these emotions up. It also creates a vortex of fear around thinking or doing those so called negative thoughts and behaviors. Thus based on our current understanding of how language, the mind and manifestation work, I have taken the liberty to rephrase them, streamline them and express them as simple positive affirmations combined with a body movement or mudra, in order to help integrate them into our body/mind consciousness, thereby avoiding the negative focus effect. So this was my thinking in creating our Sanctuary motto.
So what is the positive of don’t get angry? It is be kind. And what is the positive of don’t worry? Take things lightly like a child. Of course being grateful needs no change so that stayed the same. And being devoted to your work is also positive but I felt it could be more universal by saying be devoted or committed to your life’s purpose or mission. And there we have it. Four simple thoughts to live by. No negative focus and no fear involved, just positive affirmations of how you want to live. And then to help them sink in and feel good doing it, I felt they needed movement of the body. And so I created a movement that expressed gratitude for all that we receive, and another one to express kindness towards yourself and others, another to express commitment to your path, and the last to express lightness and feeling free. And there it is, a positive real, and fun way of affirming your principles and affirmations daily. Try it if you haven’t already. You’ll enjoy it.
- Hands together over your head, the posture of gratitude
- Hands open and outstretched in front of you,a posture of openness and kindness
- Hands making fists to the sides, feeling your strength
- Hands waving to the side, being light, silly, childlike, and free
Learning to stay connected to our Soul, also called our inner self is a real challenge. There are constant things thrown at us during the day that threaten to pull us off, but when we stay strong and stay committed to our life’s longing and purpose, we can rise above all the doubts and fears that are constantly plaguing us. We must continually say yes to what we really want. When we focus on what we are afraid of and what we want to avoid, we only intensify our fears. The best way to break through difficult feelings is to first feel them, acknowledge them and then decide what you really want, right here and right now. Focusing on what is most important to you helps guide you towards the light. Like a beacon, focusing on your dream, whatever it is, will help you get through the hard feelings, and hard times. Keep moving towards that and you will be all right.
