How do you feel right now? Are you tight, tense, spaced out, foggy, or relaxed, soft, and energized ? Know how you feel. It is your guidance system for navigating in the world. We often don’t like the way we feel so we eat something, or drink something or watch something. The truth is, how we feel is essential to our mental and physical health and the success of whatever we do. To be truly and happily engaged in our lives we must be willing to feel what is happening in our own bodies and if necessary work to positively release, reorganize, or surrender to what is happening within us. Staying with that good feeling is an art that we must practice daily. How do we stay connected to that yummy place where we feel inspired and alive? How do we walk down that good path and not slip into all the gooey, yucky feelings that are swirling around us? Coming back to our heart and simply allowing ourselves to be buoyed up by the energy of life, is an essential step, but how do we do that? Do we take a walk in the woods? Do we do yoga or exercise? Do we meditate or watch something inspirational? Do we eat some healthy food, get a good night’s sleep, or play with the dog? Or maybe we just take a moment, step out of what we are doing, tune in, and let the energy pick us back up. It really can be that simple. Of course all these are good ways of reconnecting, but actually taking the time to do it is the real practice. ” How does my body feel and what do I need right now to reconnect or maintain my connection to the life force? Doing this is true self care. Take a few moments here and there to do this and watch how your world changes.
When I think about what to say, I come into my heart and listen to my guidance. From there I call upon my guides, my spirit team. They are with me as I am with them. I trust them to work together with me to bring about the best for all concerned. They are working with me now to help tune me in, to be in harmony with these bigger forces of life. This is an ongoing process – an evolution if you will. What I am doing in this dimension is to constantly refine my ability to listen and pay attention to what I want and how I feel. Feeling good is my navigation tool in the world. It is not about the feeling good of the pleasure senses but the feeling good of what makes my heart sing. What feels like alignment so all my juices are flowing internally? This is the good feeling I am referring to, and this is what I work to pay attention to internally. For that feeling is always there waiting to be accessed. Access that and you can’t go wrong. Trust that and you will not be disappointed. Let that flower within you and you will have all that you want.
As we go through our day it is important to pay attention to what we are feeling in each moment. This awareness helps us be aware of where we are in relationship to our inner self, and it is in this relationship that the real work of life unfolds. When we are open and connected to our source and who we really are, good things can happen, life feels fuller and more meaningful, and we can experience being happy. But it is hard for many of us to stay in that good connected feeling because of all the ego attachments (fears and beliefs) we have built up through this lifetime and others. We hide or try to protect ourselves from those things from others and from within ourselves that we consider painful or dangerous. And this self imposed protective layer makes it hard to stay in that beautiful free energy that we have all experienced from time to time. This is our challenge then – to continually let go of our preconditioned self protective stance and to allow the openness and resourcefulness that is ever present and always available to flow in. And it will if we let it! When we give ourselves permission to soften to this life energy that is always knocking at our door we become more of our true selves and reap the benefits of all that is waiting to come in. It is hard to receive the gifts of the universe when you are closing yourself off to them! That is why this work of letting go of these blocks and fears is so important. It really is the doorway to peace, love, fulfillment, and success. This is the real work, and when we do it, all good things come to us.
When we do Reiki we are not really doing anything but actually intending and allowing the healing energy to move through us in service to ourself or others. Reiki is more about maintaining that state of being, and being with the energy, than getting a certain outcome. It is more focused on how you are being than what you are accomplishing. This is a great attitude for living life as well. When we focus on being with what is happening rather than just trying to achieve a certain outcome, things shift. Your consciousness shifts, your emotions shift, and the people around shift in response to how you are being. This is also related to that old phrase, ” the ends do not justify the means”. In other words, in order to get the healing results we desire, we must be in the healing energy. The more we can just be in that state, that state of allowing and acceptance, and simply be in the experience of what is happening, the more healing happens. The more we try to push or make something happen the less it does. This is a seeming paradox, but absolutely true. This requires us to let go and and not be attached to the outcome, and when we do we become freer and less attached to whatever we are doing, and in that detachment comes peace and calmness. We then can feel less frustrated, less angry and have more equanimity. It’s a good practice, well worth the effort and something I work on daily.
When we have trouble in our life, it is often difficult to remember that these are but the passing clouds of our experience. They are not forever. Even when the rain clouds are storming and you feel as if your house is going to be swept away, there is always hope and serenity possible, somewhere and somehow. That doesn’t mean things will always turn out exactly as you picture it. Even when destruction is eminent, as we learn to let go, our inner feelings can eventually return to that place of peace and serenity. Our true nature is like the small child, light and free, but it can be hard to connect to that part of our self when troubles arise. Hopefully we can take the time to step back and take the larger view. When we can see our life within the context of lifetimes or see our world within the context of our own eternal nature, things begin to fall into perspective. For in the end, perspective is everything. Once we are able to see and feel our true nature and then live of life from this feeling or perspective, we begin to live with a greater sense of peace in our life. This is what I am working on – staying connected to who and what I really am, and staying connected to that higher perspective which gives me the serenity that feels the way I want to feel. Most of us are caught in the survival struggle, the achievement struggle, or the struggle to be more than we are. And when we get caught up in this struggle we loose a sense of who we really are, what our true nature is, and what our potentials are. It is then we must return to that sense of knowing from within our heart that says, “I am a part of the all in all. I am a part of this great unfolding process,” (known as God, humanity, Spirit, or whatever other term you want to give it). It is here that I hear the soothing voices that say, ” It is all okay. You are fine it is fine. Let it be. “And it is in letting go to that part of ourselves that we can return to that true nature of lightness and the feelings that make life worth living.
